SMART Goal #1
This week my goal is to make a plan for what I want to accomplish this year and, time permitting, begin reaching out to potential mentors.
Reflection
This week I made a lot of progress in planning what I want to accomplish, but I was unable to contact any potential mentors. After speaking with Ms. I and the yearbook staff, I’ve decided that the main way I’m going to show what I’ve learned about design will be by helping to design yearbook pages. Though I have two specific people in mind to potentially be my mentor, I’m still slightly unsure what form of guidance I’ll be looking for which is preventing me from asking them quite yet. I know I want to have a focus on the process of coming up with as well as physically making the design portion of advertisements. However, I’m still working out exactly how I can present this in the yearbook page format. I’m probably going to need a second format to express what I’ve learned about the advertising aspect, and I can use the yearbook pages as the main way to show what I’ve learned about creativity and design. While at the library, I found a couple of books about creating infographics. I’ve always found infographics to be a really cool way of presenting information, because they often incorporate creative design and layout styles that keep the viewer interested. I’m hoping to get the chance to read more about these, and that may lead into the second form of presentation that I’m searching for.
